OUR STORY

How the Natives from Ecuador and Canadian Natives came together

From Otavalo, a town in the Andes where the main occupation of the inhabitants is to make and sell the woolen garments that have given international fame to this thriving community, Armando Otavalo, a musician, decided to settle in Canada and sell handcrafts after traveling around the world with his Latin-American music band.

Armando started selling crafts and CDs in small booths in malls and shows in and around Edmonton but also in other provinces of Canada such as Saskatchewan, Northen Territories, and Manitoba.

In 2011, Native Spirit opened its doors in Londonderry Mall. the business grew to three physical stores that used to be located in Londonderry Mall, West Edmonton Mall, and Bonnie Doon Mall, although only the store in Londonderry Mall exists today as it has proven to be the best location.

Besides running the physical store, Native Spirit participates in powwows and shows in different parts of Canada.

This online store is Native Spirit's intention of bringing indigenous people together and offering quality crafts to clients of all ethnic groups.
